The financing of long-term aged care has been an important, unresolved debate throughout the last decade of aged care services in Australia.
This response analyses Warwick Bruen’s paper, which we consider to be largely focused on residential aged care and largely concerned with reducing aged care costs to government over the next few decades. It argues that the development of strong and considered public policy concerning the care of older people with disabilities and chronic illnesses requires a broadening of the discussion and debate.
