Carer Support Groups
Carers are diverse and so are the people for whom
they care. They come from all walks of life and from different ethnic
backgrounds.
Carer Support Groups are an opportunity for
carers to come together to discuss their needs, and to share experiences
and information. They can also offer support, time out from the
caring role, education and training, and recognition of the role
of carers and their contribution to the community.
They provide important social and emotional
support and can help reduce the feelings of isolation often experienced
by carers.
There are Carer Support Groups across all regions
of Victoria, aimed at a range of different support needs, interests
and focuses. The Commonwealth Carer Respite
Centres collate information about the groups available.
If you would like further information,
an opportunity to discuss your particular support needs or interests,
or to be put in touch with an appropriate group, please call 1800
059 059 (free call from local phones, mobile calls at mobile
rates) or contact the Respite
Centre for your area.
