Carers Victoria is the only Carer Association in Australia that is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Our accredited short courses are for staff working in the community services and health industries.

Working effectively with family carers enhances work with clients for a range of employees in the community services and health industries. Carers Victoria has developed a range of short courses and professional development workshops for service providers. These courses and workshops:

Training schedule
The following short courses and workshops may be scheduled at Carers Victoria in 2008. Refer to our events calendar for dates and times. All sessions may also be run on or off site for organisations according to demand. Please contact us indicating the courses or workshop/s you are interested in.
Customised training
We specialise in customising workshops to be relevant to an organisation’s workplace training needs. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and costs and discounted costs for groups of 8 or more

Refund policy

No refunds are provided for training that has been delivered.

If the provider cancels the course then a refund of all fees is paid to the student or client unless satisfactory alternative arrangements can be made.

Fees will be refundable upon 5 working days notice of a cancellation prior to commencement date of a course.

Less than 5 working days notice of cancellation will incur a $20 fee per person. This fee will support costs incurred for materials preparation, administration, venue hire, catering, etc as per arrangement. Maximum charge per organisation is $100.

Cancellations will only be accepted if they are received in writing (email, fax, post or hand delivered). |

Providing carer friendly practice |
Are you a direct care worker in the aged care, disability, mental health, acute or community health sector? These short courses will equip you with principles and strategies for implementing carer friendly practices within your job role. The courses focus upon issues that help you to gain insight into the experience of being a family carer. There are two Victorian accredited units of competency.

Are you a supervisor, coordinator, team leader or manager in the aged care, disability, mental health, acute or community health sector? These short courses focus on the concept of carers as ‘partners’ in the caring relationship. Mapping the carer journey assists you to gain insights into the experience of carers. Topics on planning for innovation, change and evaluation are designed to support the implementation of Carer Friendly Practices within your organisation. There are two Victorian accredited units of competency.

Carers Victoria delivers two nationally accredited units of competency reflecting a focus on working with carers. Staff completing these units may use them towards a relevant Community Services and Health Training Package qualification.
